Sweden’s most taste-conscious region
In Östersund and the Jämtland Härjedalen region, gastronomy is more than just food—it is innovation, craftsmanship and pride. As Sweden’s only region in UNESCO’s Creative City of Gastronomy network, we bring together actors who drive the region’s gastronomic development forward through local ingredients, sustainable production and creative food experiences. Here, tradition and innovation meet, with Jämtland flavours at the centre.
What is UCCN?
UNESCO Creative City Network is UNESCO’s network for creative cities, where Östersund, together with the Jämtland Härjedalen region, as the only place in Sweden, was designated a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2010.
What does the designation mean?
That we in the Jämtland Härjedalen region have been designated as one of UNESCO’s Creative Cities of Gastronomy is an international recognition of our food culture, our gastronomic craftsmanship and our ingredients.
What happens here?
For those working in gastronomy in the region, the network offers opportunities to both find inspiration and develop. Through both international and local collaborations.
