Folk Festival with Local Food, New Discoveries and Encounters Behind the Cuisine
Between September 5–6, Harvest Festival Jämtland Härjedalen offered a weekend filled with flavors, encounters and discoveries. Throughout the region, farms, restaurants, breweries and other local businesses opened their doors and welcomed visitors who wanted to get closer to the food, the people and the places behind the products.
Visiting Harvest Festival Jämtland Härjedalen is embarking on a journey of discovery through the region. Here, visitors can taste, shop, ask questions and meet the people who grow, process, brew, cook and create what exists all around us. The event highlights local food and production, but also the place, the craftsmanship and the stories behind it.
– At the Harvest Festival, visitors not only have the opportunity to purchase a product. They also get to meet the person behind the product and see the farm or business. I believe this contributes to a greater understanding of the work involved, says Rikard Backskog at Torsta, who organizes the Harvest Festival.
For the participating businesses, the weekend is a valuable opportunity to showcase their work, meet new and returning visitors, and share their everyday lives. For many, the Harvest Festival also provides a welcome boost in sales, while more people become aware of everything produced in Jämtland Härjedalen.

An Autumn Tradition That Continues to Grow
Over the years, the Harvest Festival has grown into a cherished autumn tradition that attracts thousands of visitors throughout the region. Each year, the event evolves to allow more people to experience it.
– This year, for example, we were able to offer free participation for farms through the Ät Jämtland project. In addition, we developed the event with the Harvest Festival buses, which made it possible to visit several businesses in one day. We ran one tour on Saturday and one on Sunday, says Rikard.
The Harvest Festival buses were also appreciated by visitors.
– It was a very successful weekend! Around 14,000 visits during the weekend and I guided a total of 85 wonderful visitors on this year’s Harvest Festival bus. Their reviews alone will sustain me for a long time, says Rikard.
